Filename: unpitch1_deviate_ds_Mar09
Duration: 1:38
Recorded: 1 March 2008
Instruments: 4 synths, percussion
Comments: These excerpts (unpitch1 and unpitch2, below) are both taken from the same recording. This excerpt, taken from the earlier section of the recording, uses slurred timing. The instruments used here were chosen with the aim of moving away from multi-tracked melodic content towards more unpitched, percussive sounds.

Filename: unpitch2_deviate_ds_Mar09
Duration: 1:24
Recorded: 1 March 2009
Instruments: 4 synths, percussion
Comments: This excerpt from the later part of the recording uses metric timing and a different BPM, but identical instruments to the above.

Filename: thirtyone_deviate_ds_Mar09
Duration: 1:39
Recorded: 1 March 2009
Instruments: 4 synths, percussion
Comments: In this recording, time scaling was used (as opposed to time slurring), which scaled 32 beats per bar down to 31. A linear scale and rounding was used instead of truncation – this keeps the metric structure, rather than simply shortening the bar length.
