Filename: esque_deviate_ds_Jul09.mp3
Duration: 1:22
Recorded: 25 July 2009
Instruments: 3 synths, percussion
Comments: Listening to Clark’s Totems Flare, I noticed a lot of classic 4-bar phrasing, with a shifting tonic note in each bar. This is a blunt implementation of that feature.

Duration: 1:00
Recorded: 26 July 2009
Instruments: 4 synths, percussion
Comments: At the time of recording esque_deviate_ds_Jul09 (above), there were audible latency issues, which, after debugging, evaporated as mysteriously as they arrived. While trying to test this, I enabled different VSTi plug-ins and a lot of CPU-heavy effects, while using the same basic set-up (BPM, Deviate parameters, etc). This was initially just for diagnostic purposes, but the resulting recording was pretty good. The addition of swing alters the feel quite a bit.
