Deviate is a generative environment for performing contemporary popular electronic music. It aims to:
• explore alternatives to sequencer-based or audio loop-based methods for live performance of contemporary popular electronic music
• produce complex musical output within a range of styles
• base the construction of the environment, and processes used therein, on identified musical goals rather than abstract compositional processes
• incorporate continued practice as a means of refining the usability of the environment and quality of musical output.
